Portland State University Saxophone Quartet
Founded in 2018, the Portland State Saxophone Ensemble was established as a collaboration
between the saxophone studio of Portland State University and the talented musical community of
Portland. Performing concerts of emerging and established composers, the ensemble seeks to
create an engaging environment for wide-ranging audiences. Members
of the Portland State Saxophone ensemble include talented high school students, PSU saxophone
studio members, and Portland-area professional saxophonists.
Amanda Chan is a senior at Portland State University. Some of the ensembles she participated
in prior to college is the Southridge High School Marching Band, Winter Percussion, Jazz Band,
Basketball Band, Pit Orchestra, Concert Band and Wind Ensemble. While in high school she
also played with the Oregon Ambassadors of Music, Portland Youth Wind Ensemble and OMEA
All-State Band. Since coming to Portland State she has participated regularly in Quartet 321,
the Wind Symphony, Concert Band, Pep Band, Taiko Ensemble, Gamelan Ensemble, Saxophone
Chamber Ensembles and student-led Mixed Ensembles. She plans on double majoring in Music
Performance and Physics as well as double minoring in Mathematics and Space Planetary Science. After completing her undergraduate degrees, she plans on pursuing graduate studies in music performance.

Sean Fredenberg serves as the Instructor of Saxophone at Portland State University where heteaches applied saxophone and chamber music. He is dedicated to promoting new music forthe saxophone, commissioning and premiering new works from many bright young composers.AS the soprano saxophonist of Quartet 321, he is dedicated to performance and outreach in thePortland community. Sean is a founding member of the Post-Haste Reed Duo (saxophone +bassoon) with Javier Rodriguez. Post-Haste has toured several U.S. colleges and universities,performing and presenting master classes in woodwind performance and chamber music. Hehas also appeared under the baton of Danail Rachev with the Eugene Symphony, Marin Alsopwith the Oregon Bach Festival, and Carlos Kalmar with the Oregon Symphony. He has beenfortunate to study at Louisinia State University with Griffin Campbell (BM), University of NorthCarolina at Greensboro with Steve Stusek (MM), and with Idit Shner at the University of Oregon(DMA).

Eduardo Salgadois a freshman music major at Portland State University. Prior to college, he participated in The Dalles high school concert, jazz, and marching band where he was drum major. The Dalles jazz band traveled to Idaho to participate in the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in 2016 and 2017 where they competed against other jazz bands throughout the pacific northwest. Outside of high school he was regularly invited to participate to perform for the community as a member of the pit orchestra for musicals and plays. Since coming to PSU he has participated in PSU Wind Symphony, PSU saxophone quartet, and the Portland State Saxophone Ensemble. He plans on majoring in saxophone music performance at PSU.

William Greer is a freshman at Portland State University studying saxophone performance. He has been playing the saxophone for 7 years in a variety of settings, placing at the state level for solo, saxophone quartet and quintet, wind ensemble, jazz band and combo. He attended Southridge High School in Beaverton, Oregon, where he played the flute, clarinets, and saxophones in marching band, all of the ensembles, pit orchestra, saxophone choirs, as well as jazz big bands and combos. As a member of the PSU saxophone studio he is active in chamber music as well as large ensembles, participating in the PSU clarinet choir, PSU saxophone quartet, and Wind Symphony. He intends to continue to pursue classical saxophone throughout undergraduate and into graduate school.
